Frequently Asked Questions

  • Experience & Atmosphere

Spa experiences are only conducted whilst the boat is securely moored. You’ll enjoy the gentle movement of water without any cruising.

Every booking is for exclusive use. Only your group and our spa team will be aboard.

The spa is designed for year-round comfort regardless of weather with a heated interior and air conditioning.

  • Where are you based?

Whilst Maria Alexander is capable of moving, she is generally moored within a 5–10 minute walk of Limehouse Marina in East London.

The closest transport links are Limehouse DLR and Limehouse Station, providing quick access from Canary Wharf, the City and Central London.

For operational reasons we usually meet guests at a designated meeting point before escorting them to the vessel.

  • Therapists / Hosts

Unless specifically requested in advance your hosts and therapists will usually be one female and one male.

If you would prefer female therapists and hosts only, we can usually accommodate this with sufficient notice. Please let us know when making your booking.

  • What should I bring?

We provide towels, robes, and spa slippers as well as shampoo and body wash.

Please bring swimwear and any personal items you may need.

There’s a shower (within the open plan spa area) and changing space with a hairdryer for your convenience.

  • Do you provide food and drinks?

We offer water herbal teas and snacks such as dried fruit.

Please let us know in advance if any guest has allergies, intolerances or specific dietary requirements.

  • Bookings & Cancellations

Bookings can be made via our website or Instagram booking link. Full payment is required to confirm a booking.

You may cancel or reschedule up to 3 days or 72 hours before your experience.

Cancellations giving notice of less than 3 days or 72 hours or no shows may forfeit the deposit.

    See full terms at checkout.

  • Accessibility & Safety

Please note access to the boat involves stepping on and off a narrow towpath and navigating several steps into the boat. Additionally, the nature of a canal boat means that certain spaces are necessarily compact and some features are fixed in place.

As a result the experience will likely be unsuitable for those with restricted mobility or requiring additional space for their comfort.

Please contact us if you are unsure about suitability.

For safety reasons, the spa experience is reserved for guests aged 16 and over.

  • Can you accommodate groups or bespoke bookings?

Yes, Maria Alexander is available for individuals, couples and small groups of up to four guests.

We are happy to consider bespoke arrangements, including extended experiences, private afternoon or day hire, alternative treatment combinations and special occasions.

If you have something specific in mind, please contact us directly and we will be happy to discuss the options available.

As every booking is private and exclusive, some bespoke arrangements may require additional crew or therapists and will be priced accordingly.

  • Can I visit during pregnancy?

Certain treatments and spa facilities may not be suitable during pregnancy.

If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, please contact us before booking and we will be happy to discuss the options available.
